My go to snack

I have a new obsession….don’t worry it is NOT over a material object.  I am addicted to Whole Foods Market-Honey Roasted Peanut Butter.  Over the year’s I have tasted numerous options available in the PB industry but NOTHING like this-it is absolutely heavenly.  Besides the amazing taste two key reasons I love this; I grind it myself, for super freshness; plus the only ingredient is peanuts-no added sugar, no preservatives, nor mumbo jumbo stuff.

My favorite Honey Roasted PB combos:

1-Paired with Gala apples.

2-The Elvis Presley favorite-banana with peanut butter on slice bread.

3-The classic peanut butter and jelly on white bread minus the crust please.

I haven’t tried this yet but it sure looks scrumptious; Apple, granola, semisweet chocolate chips, and peanut butter!

Fruits & veggies are taking over!

I know my parents never thought they would see the day I would have an abundance of fruits as a dining room centerpiece.  As a huge fan of bacon and other not so healthy options, it has been a transformation of sorts.  Don’t get me wrong, I still eat all that but more in moderation today than a while back.

Yes, fruits & veggies now rule the real estate on our table, in the kitchen, and fridge too!  Prior to juicing, less then four weeks ago, the table showcased the usual; a vase paired with candlestick holders.

Pleased with how fruits & veggies continue to reboot my body, my new habit is to juice at least once a day.

Key benefits thus far:

-No headaches

-No cravings for a shot of espresso, not an ounce of added caffeine required!

-I do crave fulling meals that are NOT processed and pumped with artificial stuff.

All about POM

In my quest to eat foods that stimulate goodness for the body-I tried POM a.k.a. Pomegranate juice.   Bitterness and I are not the best of friends however it wasn’t so bad.  I guess my taste buds are evolving!  Grapefruit is now staple in my daily routine, so POM was palatable.

Here’s why you should start drinking this too:

It’s good for the heart-that’s a no brainer start now!

Offers lots of antioxidants specifically polyphenol.

POM is grown and process in the USA.

A Seperation

It’s such a treat to see a movie-especially a good one.  The Film Forum in NYC offer’s a great variety of both indie and classic films.  Last night we finally saw A Seperation, directed by Asghar Farhadi.  Brilliantly done-the drama holds your attention throughout the picture.  Winning so many acclaims, make it point to go see it!

First class of the year

This weekend I enjoyed collaborating with a Kitchen professional and classmates over a two day period on Kitchen design. Fascinated in the development of space planning, I value the perspectives and insights industry professionals have to offer.  Like artist, designers start with a blank canvas surrounded by walls.  As the creative juices start flowing pieces get plugged-in.  Below you’ll find a rough sketch-not to scale of our brainstorming ideas.  Many details to consider!

Don’t forget to think about the following:



-Elements of surprise; the mix of aesthetics-traditional with new.

-Will the final design match the exterior of the home?

-For resale purposes make sure the design complements the rest of the home.

Our first dance

My husband and I have been together for more than two decades.  Throughout the year’s many songs have captured our love.  As I reflect on the death of Whitney Houston, I can’t help but remember a key piece she did.  Our first dance at a friend’s birthday party was to Whitney Houston’s-I will always love you!

My new found love for Grapefruit

For the last week I’ve started my day with a grapefruit.  I must admit I was never a fan of it’s strong sour taste-uh!  However after doing a little bit of research I’ve reconsider the fruit.  Grapefruit is now high on my charts of nurturing foods for the body, here’s why.

Three great qualities;

-Helps the metabolism burn fat-enough said!  Number 1 reason I’ve grown to love the taste.

-Plenty of vitamin C

-Antioxidants properties

Figaro, Figaro, Figaro!

On Saturday we enjoyed one of our favorite NYC treats-Opera.  Gioachino Rossini’s famous comic Il Barbiere di Siviglia.  Truly a delight!

Key highlights for me:

-Listening to the Overture under the direction of Maurizio Benini. There’s nothing like a full orchestra performing live…….amazing!  Click here to capture the essence of what we heard.

-The soprano that played Rosina’s character, Diana Damrau, what a voice….gives me goose-bumps just thinking about it- absolutely divine!

-Finally learning about the story of Figaro, the barber.

The entire performance was great.

Bikram Yoga-sweating it out!

This week my cousins Monica & Viedya plus myself charged into poses during our Bikram Yoga class.  The amount of sweat that pours off the body is not the sexiest look however it’s so rewarding.  The class does 26 poses in 90 minutes in a room that’s between 100-109 degrees-HOT! HOT! HOT!

Three classes in, some of the key benefits for me:

-Aware of my breathe

-Getting rid of toxins

-Stretching both the body and mind

-Working the entire body, kicking my metabolism into action!
